The Veterinarians of Bayshore Veterinary Hospital

Miguelina “Mickie” Moniello

If you weren’t a vet, what career could you see yourself in?
I have wanted to be a Veterinarian since the 6th grade, so I never really considered any other careers. However, I love to travel so perhaps a career in the travel industry would be exciting.

What do you do in your spare time?
I enjoy bike riding, reading books on the beach, skiing, and spending time with Dixie and Ichabod, my dog and my horse.

What is your favorite comfort food?
My favorite comfort food has to be pizza! It got me through all my years of school, and even now, it’s the first meal I order upon returning home from my travels.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
At the moment, my favorite vacation spot is Hawaii. It’s the land of waterfalls, whales, mountains, and ocean! Need I say more?

What is your favorite quote about animals?
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” …Mahatma Ghandi

Jennifer Mei-An Raicer

Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine

What is your favorite comfort food?
Anything involving raw fish and rice (sushi, poke…) with macarons (one “o” not two) being a close second!

If you weren’t a vet, what career could you see yourself in?
I had a difficult time choosing between Art School and Vet School! If I weren’t a Vet, I’d be a nature photographer.

What do you do in your spare time?
Favorite pastime activities include playing in dirt (aka gardening), hiking, and anything “foodie” related.

If you could give only 1 piece of advice to pet owners what would it be?
Never take a single moment for granted. Hug your pet(s) every day. And remember to laugh, even when they do something naughty. For example, what does it taste like when you mix chicken stock with vanilla soy milk? I don’t know, but you can ask my cats who decided to puncture (slaughter?) unopened cartons of each and knock them off the counter, resulting in a lovely tributary of savory and sweet.

What is your favorite quote about animals?
It’s actually my favorite quote in general…
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
– Winnie the Pooh

If you weren’t a vet, what career could you see yourself in?
If I wasn’t a Vet, I would love to be a teacher and track coach like my husband, because I see how rewarding it is for him.  I love to run, and share my enthusiasm for it with others!

What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love to spend time with my children, and spend time doing things outside.  I especially love to run and bike in the woods, swim in the ocean, and work in my garden.  I also enjoy fostering and bottle feeding a litter of kittens, from the shelter, every Spring.

What is your favorite comfort food?
I don’t really have a comfort food, but I can never say no to chocolate or a good cup of coffee!

What is your favorite vacation spot?
My favorite vacation spot is the Jersey Shore.  I’m lucky enough to be able to live there too!

What is your favorite quote about animals?
“Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely, for that one dog, the world will change forever.”
